BIS-CRS Registration Certificates for All Electronic and IT Products: Step-by-Step Guide

In a world driven by electronics and innovation, product compliance is not just a legal obligation—it’s a mark of trust and safety. In India, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that electronic and IT products meet national safety and quality standards through the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS).

Whether you are a manufacturer or importer, obtaining a BIS-CRS registration certificate for all electronic and IT products is essential before your product hits the Indian market. In this blog, we’ll walk you through the BIS registration process, the importance of compliance, and how AQS Solution—a leading BIS consultant in India—can be your trusted partner in achieving certification smoothly and efficiently.

What is BIS-CRS Certification?

The Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS), introduced by BIS in coordination with MeitY, mandates safety compliance for specific electronic and IT goods before sale in India. This includes a wide range of products such as mobile phones, LED lights, laptops, smartwatches, power banks, wireless devices, and more.

Manufacturers must obtain BIS certificates proving their products meet Indian safety standards. These BIS-CRS registration certificates for all electronic and IT products are legally required and help in building consumer confidence while avoiding regulatory penalties.

BIS Certificate Registration Process: A Quick Overview Product Testing:

Your product must undergo testing at a BIS-approved laboratory in India. The test reports must align with the relevant Indian Standard (IS).

Online Application:

An online application must be submitted on the BIS certification website, along with required documents like product specifications, business license, test reports, and manufacturing details.

Document Review:

BIS reviews the application and may request clarifications or additional documents.

Issuance of Certificate:

Upon successful review, the BIS-CRS certificate is issued, allowing the manufacturer to affix the Standard Mark on the product.

This process may seem straightforward but can become complex without the right guidance—especially for foreign manufacturers.
